"Secret Land" is a music by German artist Sandra.
It was recorded in September 1988 as the 2-nd song from her 3-rd album, Into a
Secret Land. The track is an adaptation of a Hubert Kemmler-
produced single
called "Trenchcoat Man", recorded as a single by German group Fabrique
in 1987.
"Secret Land" was a particularly successful single
in Israel, where it topped the chart, and was a top 10 hit in Germany, South
Africa and Switzerland, where it peaked at number 7, 8 and 9, respectively. It
also reached the top 20 in Sweden and Austria, reaching 16-th and 17-th,
respectively. Curiously, the song did not achieve great success in France,
where it peaked only at number 26, whereas the previous Sandra songs were
generally well received there.
In 1999 Sandra re-recorded the single and shot a brand-new
music video for it. This version appeared on her compilation album My
Favourites (1999), and was released as the first single from the compilation.
